Dispute Management
About Dispute Management
Dispute
resolution or dispute settlement is the process of resolving disputes
between parties. The term dispute resolution is sometimes used
interchangeably with conflict resolution, although conflicts are
generally more deep-rooted and lengthy than disputes. Dispute resolution
techniques assist the resolution of antagonisms between parties that
can include citizens, corporations, and governments.
Methods of dispute resolution include:
• lawsuits (litigation)(judicial)
• arbitration
• collaborative law
• mediation
• conciliation
• negotiation
• facilitation
• avoidance
Why is Dispute Management important?
Dispute
resolution processes have several advantages. For instance, many
dispute resolution processes are cheaper and faster than the traditional
legal process. Certain processes can provide the parties involved with
greater participation in reaching a solution, as well as more control
over the outcome of the dispute. In addition, dispute resolution
processes are less formal and have more flexible rules than the trial
court.
